Neurotologist Moises Arriaga, M.D., director of CNC Hearing and Balance Center in New Orleans, was recently elected president of the American Neurotology Society (ANS) at its annual meeting in Dallas. The ANS is an international organization devoted to the treatment and research of advanced ear surgery and skull base surgery.
As a neurotologist, Dr. Arriaga is trained as both an otologic neurosurgeon (neurotology) and head and neck surgeon.
In addition, Dr. Arriaga was also recently elected president of the Otosclerosis Study Group – the national organization devoted to surgery and treatment of otosclerosis and stapedectomy. Otosclerosis is a hereditary disorder causing progressive deafness due to overgrowth of bone in the inner ear. Otosclerosis is the most common cause of operable reversible deafness in adults.
A native New Orleanian, Dr. Arriaga treats acoustic neuromas, balance disorders, dizziness, ear trauma, hearing loss, skull base tumors, tinnitus, Meniere’s Disease, otitis media-ear infection, otosclerosis, facial nerve problems, and vertigo. He is also the Director of Otology – Neurotology and Professor of Otolaryngology and Neurosurgery at Louisiana State University.
Dr. Arriaga frequently lectures nationally and internationally teaching state-of-the-art ear surgery to students and practicing physicians. He has published over 130 articles and co-edited five textbooks.
