During the Coronovirus lockdown, Culicchia Neurological and CNC Hearing and Balance Center is using telemedicine for patient visits. As we meet with you virtually through the teleconferencing format, we are able to measure your hearing and do an exam virtually through the video conferencing platform.
Our audiologists will contact you about using one of two separate apps that are available to accomplish this. UHear, for those of you that have iPhones and Hearing Test, for those of you with Android phones. These apps require you to use your earphones or earbuds at home and they give us a way of measuring your hearing and it creates an output that you can send to us. The audiologists and the medical assistants will talk to you about how to go through this process. This has been actually very useful in a number of situations, even though we can’t get a formal audiogram in the office.
Our doctors and practitioners are available for telemedicine consultation for regular appointments or in-person visits for emergencies. We urge all patients to sign up for the patient portal and make sure we have a valid email address.
Alternatively, your doctor may use the doxy.me platform for your telemedicine visit. Instructions are below.
Your telemedicine appointment will take place on a secure platform called Doxy.me , which can be accessed by smartphone, tablet or computer. Here is how it works:
- Prior to your scheduled appointment, patients will receive an email invitation from their doctor to join the appointment using Doxy.me .
- Accept the invitation.
- Enable the camera. Although “phone-only” is an option, the platform works best using a camera.
- You will then enter the virtual waiting room.Wait until the physician is ready to begin the appointment. You will be able to see and talk to your physician.
