A November 28, 2018 Reuter’s article emphasized that older adults with untreated hearing loss can develop additional health problems leading to more frequent hospitalizations and health costs. The article, entitled “Untreated hearing loss linked to higher health costs, more hospitalizations,” looked at two U.S. studies, one from Johns Hopkins and the other from the University of Michigan Medical School.
“Hearing loss has been linked to a range of health problems including cognitive decline, falls, depression, reduce quality of life in an increased number of hospitalization and emergency room visits,” the article states.
