Vestibular Therapy for Balance

Patients struggling with dizziness and balance issues can benefit from Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy to correct conditions that affect one’s balance and spatial orientation.

CNC Hearing and Balance Center’s Vestibular Rehab Therapy program is led by Carrie Black, PT, DPT, C/NDT and Rebecca Callais, OT, LOTR. Carrie is a licensed physical therapist and Rebecca is a licensed occupational therapist, providing a depth of experience that benefits patients.

Vestibular rehabilitation is commonly part of the treatment strategy both before and following neurotological surgery. Drs. Moises Arriaga and Ann Maxwell frequently prescribe Vestibular Therapy even when surgery is not indicated, and it is an integral part of the treatment protocol along with medications.

CNC Hearing and Balance Center refers many patients to Vestibular Rehab to correct issues that can cause dizziness, imbalance, nausea, migraines and other symptoms.

The length of one’s physical therapy treatment depends on the patient but on average, patients see improvement with their vertigo/dizziness/imbalance after 4 to 8 visits over a two-month period.

“We customize the patient’s treatment plan here at CNC Hearing and Balance Center and then send them home with daily exercises,” Carrie Black said.

The Vestibular Physical Therapy team treats patients at the CNC Hearing and Balance Center offices in Marrero and uptown New Orleans. To make an appointment, call 504.934.8320 or click here.
